Code of Conduct - coach
COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
By submitting this application, you are agreeing to the coaches’ code of conduct and also to the responsibility of taking the Respect in Sport (RIS) course and a criminal record check, or if already completed providing verification prior to March 31, 2020.
GREATER VICTORIA MINOR BALL HOCKEY ASSOCIATION (GVMBHA)
TEAM OFFICIALS’ CONTRACT
It is the intention of this CONTRACT to promote fair play and respect for all participants within GVMBHA. All coaches must sign this CONTRACT before being allowed to participate in ball hockey and must continue to observe the principles of Fair Play.
FAIR PLAY CODE
I will ensure all athletes receive appropriate fair playing time.
I will ensure all athletes receive equal instruction, discipline and support.
I will teach my athletes to play fairly and to respect the rules, officials, opponents and teammates.
I will not ridicule or yell at my athletes for making mistakes or for performing poorly.
I will remember that children play to have fun and must be encouraged to have confidence in themselves.
I will be generous with praise and set a good example.
I will be reasonable when scheduling conflicts arise remembering that young athletes have other interests and obligations.
I will endeavor to attend the GVMBHA coaching clinic and cooperate with feedback and assistance from the GVMBHA coach supervising team.
I will never question or speak to the official’s in a hostile manner. I understand that many of them are learning and developing in the same manner as players.
I realize I am a role model for my players and that my behavior has an important impact on their positive growth in sports.
I will remember that children need a coach they can respect.

Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey Association reserves the right to apply league disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from the coaching position for failing to follow the principles of fair play as outlined above.
